THE COTTAGE HOUSE MANUAL - Prepared for you to ensure a great stay!

Condition of the Property:

We will do our best to leave everything ready for your arrival.  To ensure you have an amazing time on Pelee Island.

We do however have a few rules you find listed below that we would like to make sure you are comfortable with prior to you confirming your stay to avoid any issues.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all.

It is a great rule of thumb, to do your best to leave things as you find them wherever possible.  We will certainly take care of the cleaning upon your departure :)

This is a self serve property. If you require something for your stay – it is best to bring those items with you.  You will find some items on the Included Page that you are welcome to use.  We are a remote community and it is not always easy to acquire items that you may need for your stay.

Door Locks:

Please do not lock the external basement door as this space needs to be accessed by guests, the owner and cleaner during your stay.

Main door locks each have a unique code that will be supplied after you complete the check in form. Front cottage lock may appear to be broken, we assure you that if you run a little test by turning the lock, you will notice the handle on the interior will not move as the door is actually locked.

Bedding and Linens:

Please always remember to bring your own sheets and towels as these are not supplied.  This is fairly standard on Pelee Island and we appreciate that you are willing to bring these items with you as our cleaning crew on the island has very limited availability.  Each cottage has 1 Queen, 1 Double and 2 twin beds. Hand towels and dish towels are supplied along with a comforter on the bed and a bath matt.

From time to time guests borrow the laundry facilities on the property.  Please note that Sunday is off limits for guest laundry as this is specifically meant for the cleaner and owners use.

Check in / Check Out:

Check in time 4:00 pm Check-out time is 12:00 noon.  Please do your best to adhere to this schedule to allow for sufficient time for any cottage maintenance and preparation for the next cottage guests. If you would be so kind as to leave with all fans, lights, A/C units turned off and all windows closed upon departure.

Indoor and Outdoor Furniture:

You will find comfy seating on your covered patio - We ask that you leave the furniture where you find it and not rearrange the furniture during your stay.

Number of Occupants:

Both Cottages have a maximum allowable number of occupants of 5 guests.  No extra guests are allowed without prior approval from the owner.

Ceiling Fans:

From time to time, guests relocate the ceiling fan remotes and we would ask that you leave them in their designated spots on the wall as they have been lost in the past.  If you are not able to locate a ceiling fan remote - please double check in the drawers as guests have left them there from time to time.

Parking:

Guest parking is is located along the driveway for the Front Cottage and at the rear of the property for The Back Cottage.  The front cottage parking area is in the front section of the driveway (Please consider parking to the left (east) of the driveway to ensure back cottage guests can get through)

*Please refrain from parking on the raised gravel area in front of the deck as this is the septic tank*

Noise:

All guests are expected to be courteous and consider their neighbors when using the cottage with respect to noise. Many families vacation with young children and will appreciate quiet at a reasonable time as this is a share property. Quiet time should be respected from 10pm to 8am.

Pets:

We love pets and they are welcome!  They are however, your responsibility while staying with us.  Please ensure you clean up after your pets.

This property operates on a septic system which is very sensitive. The basic rule is DO NOT PUT ANYTHING down the toilet other than natural waste and toilet paper. Toilet Paper safe for septic systems is supplied.

The septic bed (identified outdoors as the large, section of the front and rear yard lawns) can be easily damaged by excessive weight. Do not drive or park on the lawn.

Cottage Cleaning and Garbage:

Thank you for your consideration in leaving the cottage (inside and out including the bonfire areas) tidy, as it was for your arrival.  We have a cleaner that will attend the property upon your departure, we are simply asking that you have it in good order for them.

Waste Removal: We understand this is not optimal . . . however as we mentioned, we are a self serve property on a remote island.  We do not have municipal garbage pick up on the island, and we also have limited hours at the waste transfer station.  Due to these limitations, All garbage is the responsibility of the Guest to dispose of. Please check the municipal website for Waste Transfer Station hours or simply take these items with you on departure. This includes all contents of the fridge :)

If your stay coincides with a day that the waste-transfer station is not open, please reach out to me in advance and I will do my best to assist when possible.

Barbeque:

We have both a charcoal and propane BBQ for guests use.  The Front Cottage BBQ is located on the East side of the deck.  Propane is supplied, charcoal however is not.  You will find charcoal for purchase at The Co Op.

Television/Wifi:

Cable TV service is not available on Pelee Island. Therefore, television reception and selection of channels tends to be limited. WIFI is included - you can find the password in the Lodgify Guest App and also posted inside the cottage.

Recreational Equipment:

There are bikes located in the basement for guests use. These bikes are located on the East wall of the basement. It is recommended that you bring your own safety equipment as this is not supplied by the owner. Bikes are also – first come first serve and are not maintained by the owner. Please make sure they are in working order prior to use and operate at your own risk. If you are a serious biker, we suggest bringing your own bikes.

Please remember to take all of your personal items when you check out. If you forget something, I will do my best to get it to you in a timely manner.  Please let me know as soon as possible.
